SmashClear was created from a simple idea: pickleball players shouldn’t have to choose between protecting their eyes and seeing clearly.

When I first started playing, a ball ricocheted off my own paddle and hit me in the eye. I was lucky — but it opened my eyes to how fast things can happen on the court. Not long after, I met a player who had been hit directly in the eye, needed surgery, and was out for six months. His story stayed with me.

Once I started paying attention, I saw the same pattern everywhere: players getting injured, players avoiding eyewear, and players who did wear glasses constantly battling sweat, dirt, and fog.

I began wearing protective glasses myself and immediately felt more confident, especially against hard hitters. But during one match, my lenses fogged so badly that I took them off and hung them on the fence. The moment I did, I felt more hesitant — and more exposed.

I searched for a solution and found every pickleball accessory imaginable… except anything designed for sweaty, foggy eyewear during real games.
