SmashClear started with a simple conviction: pickleball players shouldn't have to choose between protecting their eyes and seeing clearly.

Early in my playing days, a ball ricocheted off my own paddle and caught me in the eye. I got lucky. But it made me start paying attention — and soon after, I met a player who'd taken one directly to the eye. Surgery. Six months off the court. His story stayed with me.

Once I was looking, the pattern was everywhere: players getting hurt, players skipping eyewear altogether, and players who did wear eyewear were fighting sweat marks, dirt, and fog all game long.

So I started wearing protective glasses. The confidence was immediate, especially against hard hitters.

Then, mid-match, my lenses fogged so badly I pulled them off and hung them on the fence. I played the rest of that game hesitant and exposed — and I knew I wasn't the only one making that trade.
